Line edit and Zombie thoughts

So, I'm hard at work on the line edit. With the help of the hubs and my thirteen year old--who has been sitting on the little kids in the morning during this hellish parent torture the school system likes to call Spring Break--I've managed to get about halfway through without falling too terribly far behind on my grown up words. Though....let me tell you, writing a grown up sexy time book while knocked up and with all three of your children home watching toons in the background is not easy. Or fun. Honestly, if I don't write any more naughty for a few months I won't be crying in my ginger ale.

In other zombie thoughts, I saw George Romero had a new zombie flick out! "Diary of the Dead", I think it's called. I'd love to hear more about it if anyone's seen it. I've been trying to get to "The Other Boleyn Girl" since it came out and still haven't had the time or childcare so I doubt I'll be able to make it to the theater for that one either. Though I will be seeing "Horton hears a Who" for the second time this week....sigh....

Daily dose of zombie goodness

Big stuff on the agenda today. Going to try to get 2k done on the adult WIP.

Why, that's not so big! you say. Well, my toddler is home with me talking non-stop and refuses to nap and my older girls get out of school at noon because obviously we are paying these teachers to be huge slackers!! Okay, I know teachers aren't slackers, but a 14 day spring break? That's f-ing ridiculous. I don't know about everyone else's kids, but mine need to be in school. Especially nine, she's struggling so much and every day not in school is a day she gets more behind.

Ack. But what can you do?

Put on Ninja Turtles and try to write over the sound of the three year old commentary on how much he loooovvvvees Leo. That's my plan.

Zombie Hello Kitteh

As a woman who hears the "Hello Kitty" theme song nearly every day ("Hello Kitty we love you, Hello Kitty she loves me too. Hello Kitty all of her friends are my friends too"!--sooooooooo grating), I found this Hello Kitty zombie tattoo HIL-arious. I especially like the little buzzing flies attracted by her rotting flesh. Fun stuff.

So yeah, the YA writerly life...not much going on there. I did some edits on my middle grade zombie partial for the agent but haven't heard back yet on whether she thinks it's ready to send out. Then I've got this idea I'm DYING to get to work on, but I still haven't finished my smut book so there's no joy in YA partial-ville for me. I'm having to settle with brainstorming characters and plot in my notebook before bed.

I'm anticipating some "You are So Undead to Me" line edits pretty soon, but they're not here yet. Which is good! I'm feeling a little overwhelmed at the moment anyway. Due to unexpected baby-gestating exhaustion--we found out last week that I'm knocked up, ack! Exciting but...woah now do I have a lot of stuff to get done in 8 months--I'm trying to take things a little easy.

Juggling the Muses

I guess a writer technically only has one muse, but since I write as three different people, I'm going to claim I have three :). And now, one of them is VERY annoyed. My YA muse, let's call her Magically Delicious, is circling my computer, randomly poking me with sharp sticks. Magically Delicious is pissed that I have to ditch her and all her fabulous ideas (and she believes all her ideas are fabulous, she's a lot cockier than my other two muses) to finish a partial for one of my adult publishers.

She's certain I'm wasting my time (and hers, which is even worse...she's such a diva) by spreading myself so thin. I try to tell her I'm just covering my bases, in case her book tanks and she doesn't get to write again. But talking that way to MD is just asking for even more trouble. She has no patience with my occasional lack of confidence or fear of the capriciousness of fate.

Meanwhile, my grown up sexy-writing muse is exhausted by Magically Delicious's antics and not at all in the mood to crawl from her big, comfy featherbed (she likes to lounge there eating bon-bons and being rubbed by hot, muscle-bound masseuses) and help me write. So..its looks like I'm going it solo today. I'll be trying to eek out at least 2k of sexy time stuff whilst being hounded by MD and feeling abandoned by my other muse.

Stupid muses. They can so bite me.

New Zombie partial complete!

The new zombie partial and synopsis are complete and sent into the agent. I'm REALLY excited about this book. If I weren't slammed with work, I would love to finish it just for the fun of writing. Sadly, it's been a little while since I've felt so swept away by the fun of a book. So I'm crossing my fingers the agent likes it and that someone out there gives me the go ahead to finish that sucker up!

In other news, it's back to the old grindstone for the grown up historical urban fantasy stuff. I'm going to start on the outline for my second book in the trilogy today.

The Snow Day

They had me up at 5:45 watching the school closings....



And had worn me down with their whining to go play in the snow less than two hours later. That's right, I had three kids dressed and coated and out in the snow by 7:22. And I only yelled at 9 one time at around 6:45 when I said "I godamnit have has cofee one cup least"!!! My inability to form words or complete sentences convinced her I did indeed need at least that one cup of coffee before I headed outside with them.

I did get some cute pics at least (though 13 refused to be photographed as usual). I also earned myself another complete load of laundry courtesy of wet snow clothes....

And I'm still hoping to get at least 2000 words done today. HAAAA!! ahahahahhaha!!!!
